Montegiorgio is a town in the area of Fermo located within the Marche region. It extends over a territory of about 47 square kilometers, located on a hill that reaches the height of 411 m above the sea level, in an area interested by ancient Piceno and Roman settlements as evidenced by numerous and significant archaeological discoveries.
In this context there is planned a school complex project which includes a primary and secondary school of first grade, a school cafeteria, offices for the comprehensive school, a multipurpose gymnasium and an auditorium with related works of urbanization for the entire area. The complex is part of a building plot of about 45,000 square meters located in locality Morrecine/Crocedivia; the area has been interested by a multi-disciplinary design to ensure a well served green space, areas for sports and educational spaces for leisure. The project activities have been developed as strongly related with external areas also in order to include the main guidelines of the LEED v4 BD+C: Schools pursued from the preliminary stages of design.

The school complex consists of a primary school with two complete sections, each of which has a maximum of 25 pupils per class and a total of 250 students; secondary school will have four complete sections for a total of 300 pupils. The school complex is divided into three main buildings, connected to each other, which can be accessed from a single central entrance. From the school lobby, through two diametrically opposed paths, it is possible to access the north side of the project to the multipurpose gymnasium and the south side to the auditorium. The architectural layout of the central building used exclusively for educational purposes also includes a double patio that can provide adequate natural lighting to all spaces. The adjacent facilities, gym and auditorium, will also have an autonomous function for extra-curricular activities. The school complex will guarantee high standards of energy efficiency and healthiness of internal premises: the criterion resulting from the choice to pursue the objectives of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system have determined environmental and design strategies to ensure the sustainability requirements expected by the Owner / Client and the most recent standards for contemporary building design and construction activities.
